Janet Stephenson: I started out 27 years ago as a freelance artist working on canvas and displaying at local galleries. In 1994 I went to work for a fine jewelry store in the area and learned all about metalsmithing, stone setting and design work. Finally in 2004 I became interested in beading because a friend of mine (who is part Mohawk) had been beading for years and I was facinated by the intricate design work that she created. Guess what?
